WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) 2015 is required by all employers and is the national standard for hazard communication in Canada. It is designed to educate all employees of storage, safe handling, and use of controlled products in every workplace.
The new WHMIS 2015 incorporates all the aspects of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. It is also referred to as GHS; it was developed by the United Nations as an international system of hazard communication.
Amendments were made on February 11th, 2015 and WHMIS 1988 carried the new program and was then renamed WHMIS 2015.
