Fall Protection Awareness Training

The regulations require workers using a Fall Protection System to be trained in its use. This awareness training will give you general information about common fall protection controls.

The Ministry of Labour Inspectors have increased their ticketing power as part of their program. Workers and Supervisors can receive a ticket (similar to a speeding ticket) for safety infractions.

Potential fines imposed for failing to ensure a safe work surface O. Reg. 851. s.11

• Worker failing to work on a safe work surface under section 11 of O.Reg 851 – $250
• Supervisor failing to ensure worker is working on a safe work surface under section 11 of O.Reg 851 – $450
• Employer failing to ensure a safe work surface for worker under section 11 of O.Reg 851 – $550

Employers will need to supplement this training program standard with additional information, instruction and training in workplace-specific policies and procedures and workplace-specific equipment related to working at heights. They must cover the particular equipment and applications you will encounter on each job.
